Welcome to EuroNanoBio

Nanobiotechnology is very specific and essentially different in many aspects compared to other areas of nanotechnology such as nano-electronics or nano-materials. It is certainly the most complex sub-area of nanotechnology, because it involves simultaneously the most distant scientific disciplines such as physics and clinical research, biology and mathematics, or engineering and immunology. In the industrial perspective, nanobiotechnology does not yet represent an industry by itself or an existing market. Due to this complexity, successful implementation of a European infrastructure in nanobiotechnology, the topic of this CSA project, depends critically on the successful matching, interface and cooperation of stakeholders who have little or no previous contact or knowledge of each other. Therefore the design and implementation of the roadmap towards a European infrastructure relies on intermediaries, such as the EuroNanoBio consortium, who have access to various stakeholders and who can draw upon their individual and collective experience and skills they gained in projects such as:
  1. The two FP6 European networks of excellence, Nano2Life and Frontiers
  2. The single network of nanotechnology in the New Member States, MINOS-Euronet
  3. The European Technology Platform on Nanomedicine, which provides the point of view of the medical device and pharmaceutical industry and of the clinical sector
  4. The NanobioRAISE project, which combines ethics research in nanobiotechnology and science communication.
Being deeply involved in these European projects the EuroNanoBio partners will use their first-hand experience about the issues and challenges to be taken into account when building a nanobiotechnology capacity in Europe.

NanoBio-Europe 2010

The major focus of the NanoBio-Europe Conference is set on medical applications of nanobiotechnology, in particular the characterization of cellular processes, machinery and interaction to control, manipulate or manufacture molecules or supramolecular assemblies to improve human health. [more ...]
