CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation. With 14900 employees, a total budget of 3200 millions €, 9 research centres, 332 patents filed in the year, CEA is a prominent player in Europe in 3 strategic areas: information and health technologies, energy, defence and security.As the European leader in micro and nanotechnologies, the CEA groups together fundamental research and technological innovations serving industry, to develop intelligent, miniaturised solutions in the fields of information, communication and health. It is a founding member of the Minatec project in Grenoble, the leading European centre in this sector. With its staff of 900 and 8,500 m˛ of clean rooms, CEA -Léti is one of the largest European centres in applied electronics research.
Boosted by its expertise in biology and microelectronics, CEA-Léti plays a major role in micro and nanotechnologies applied to healthcare. 150 researchers are conducting R&D projects in nanobiotechnology, mostly based in Grenoble, in close cooperation with the medical community and companies active in medical technologies and pharmacy. Applications cover in vitro diagnostics, medical devices and medical imaging.
CEA will manage WP7 – project management but will act as deputy to the WP5 leader. In both activities, CEA has a recognised track record approved by the core partners and by the EC in the light of previous projects.
