National Institute for R&D in Microtechnologies IMT-Bucharest

The major activities of the institute are dedicated to research and development in micro-nano-biotechnologies, technology transfer, education, training, and dissemination. The main laboratories are focused on research in nanotechnologies, photonics and RF-MEMS and a variety of experimental laboratories (including clean-room facilities) promote multidisciplinary research and integration of technologies. The activities in nanobiotechnology field, such as using microarray technology for biomolecular (proteins and DNA) patterning in microarrays, are developed mostly in the “NanoBioLab” laboratory, located in the clean-room area.
IMT-Bucharest has a series of infrastructures for R&D and technology transfer: Centre (of services) in micro-and nanofabrication IMT-MINAFAB; Centre of NanoTechnologies CNT-IMT; Science and Technology Park in Micro and Nanotechnologies MINATECH-RO; Centre of technology transfer in microengineering CTT-Baneasa.

IMT will bring to the consortium the point of view of New Members States in terms of need and wishes towards their integration in EU infrastructure in nanobiotechnology and will be involved in identification of existing key infrastructures in NMS which can contribute to the EU capacity in nanobiotechnology (WP1), as well as identification of relevant nanobiotechnologies education and training initiatives in NMS (WP3).
